Kent's Vibroclone In Progress Page
05/13/02
This Vibroclone project is going to use a '73 Super Reverb
chassis that was purchased on Ebay as a chassis only. We'll be using a '60s JBL
D130 speaker reconed by Ted Weber, a custom black tolex with "aged"
grill cloth cabinet and a blackface Vibroverb faceplate from Larry Rodger and a
new production Twin Reverb output transformer.
Initial Condition
Old caps and a cut up cap pan cover. Another really smoky chassis in need of a
good cleaning.
Fiber board with a few changed out caps. Silverface Super Reverb faceplate.
Restoration and Conversion Progress
New power caps. Cleaned chassis, new cap pan, reverb tranny, on/off/standby
switches, sole control, power cord.
Blackface conversion, new screen and grid resistors. Vibroverb faceplate
conversion and switch-able tremolo.
New coupling caps, optoisolator, dual channel reverb. In test.
New reverb pan assembly, just like the originals! New Twin Reverb OPT.
New cab and Vibroverb faceplate from Larry
Rodgers.
Ted Weber reconed JBL D130, mounted reverb tank, tube chart, tilt back legs,
knobs, jewel and faceplate.
Completed Restoration
Yeow! All I can say is that this Verb sounds as good as it looks.
Kent was kind enough to spend the time to write a review on
Harmony Central about his clone.
