This Vibroclone project is going to use a '69 Bandmaster Reverb
chassis. We'll be using a '60s JBL
D130 speaker reconed by Ted Weber, a custom black tolex with "aged"
grill cloth cabinet and a blackface Vibroverb faceplate from Larry Rodger and a
new production Twin Reverb output transformer.
Initial Condition
Old caps and another really smoky chassis in need of a
good cleaning.
In need of a blackface conversion. Pretty dirty chassis on the inside too.
Restoration and Conversion Progress
New power caps. Cleaned chassis, new on/off switches and Twin Reverb
OPT.
Blackface conversion. Key signal coupling caps replaced.
New on/off/standby switches, grid/screen resistors, power cord and sole control.
Rodger's Verb faceplate.
Rodger's aged grill cloth cab. WeberVST reconed JBL D130F.
In test.
Completed Restoration
Completed chassis and cabinet assembly.
Sounds just as good as it looks too!
What's left to do:
completely clean chassis
complete cap job
grid and screen resistors
new standby and on/off switches
install twin reverb output tranny
blackface conversion
clean and tighten tube sockets
vibroclone voicing conversion
remove midrange control and move knobs over by one position
install vibroverb faceplate, new knobs, lube pots and input
jacks
install new power cord
install JBL D130 recone
install new tubes, dc/ac test and burn-in
assemble amp
final test and voicing
ship back
