Steve's Vibroclone In Progress Page
09/04/02

This Vibroclone project is going to use a '69 BMR chassis, which Steve purchased and sent to me. Steve has already purchased a black tolex with aged grill cloth cabinet and an 8 ohm JBL D130F speaker. I will restore the chassis and voice it to a Vibroverb. Steve wants to use a Vibroverb faceplate, so I will need to remove the midrange control and slide the intensity, speed, reverb and bass pots over. We will be using a new production Twin Reverb output tranny. Steve also wants the sole control and switch-able tremolo mods. The amp has already been converted to blackface output and bias control spec's by someone else. The power supply and bias caps have already been replaced too.

Initial Condition

Another smoky chassis and slightly rusty power tranny.

Previous power supply cap job. Divided down output signal line out chassis hole.

Mostly original circuit board. Beat faceplate, knobs and jewel light.

Restoration and Conversion Progress

Cleaned chassis and back panel with sole control mod and new production Twin Reverb OPT.

New coupling caps, cathode caps, optoisolator, tremolo mod and removed mid-range control.

New screen/grid resistors, power cord, standby, on/off switches. Bench testing.

Completed Restoration

Steve send me these 2 pics after he assembled his clone with the following comment:

"Here's the amp. We gigged last night and I got to blow it out a little. Quite simply, it's GREAT, I love it and it is the best sounding amp I've ever played. Thank You!!!"

Check out out Steve's band the Mojos. The Mojos have been rockin West Virginia and Ohio since 1964 and have some great sound clips on their web-site.
