Initial Condition
Fair condition chassis. Another tech's totem-pole cap conversion and remaining
original caps.
Original power and choke trannies, '64 4ohm Bandmaster OPT and some really funky
caps.
More funky caps and a 1/2 power Pentode/Triode mod.
Restoration Progress
New power supply caps, resistors and bias caps.
New inter-stage coupling caps and 100K carbon composition pre-amp load
resistors.
Cleaned chassis, faceplate and back panel. New output sockets, power/standby
switches and power cord.
New sockets wired up and new heater wire. Amp in test.
Measuring bias current on several NOS 5881s. Mounted hardware, JBL D120s and
glass in re-pro cab.
Completed Restoration
What's left to do:
completely clean chassis
tighten tube sockets and lube pots and jacks
complete electrolytic cap job (partially
done)
complete inter-stage coupling cap replacement
replace pre-amp 100K ohm load resistors
remove triode/pentode mod
install new power tube sockets along with new screen
resistors
repair heater wire from previous screen resistor flame-out
install new standby and power switches
install new power cord
remove front and rear faceplates and clean
clean knobs
install new tubes, burn in and dc/ac test
install JBL D120 recone speaker into re-pro 2x12"
blonde tolex cabinet
install re-pro cabinet hardware
final test and voicing
