Initial Condition
Finally a smoke free chassis. Almost a virgin fiber board.
Hacked in power supply cap. Euro/USA power tranny.
Restoration Progress
Cleaned rear and front faceplates.
New power resistors, FP can cap and re-wired power tranny. New cathode caps and
pre amp load resistors.
In test.
Completed Restoration
Cleaned chassis, new FP can cap, power cord and tubes.
After Steve received the chassis and re-assembled the amp, Steve wrote:
"What the hell did you do to my amp! I plugged it in and the damn thing
is scary. It is so powerful now that I'm having to relearn how to play with it.
WOW! It is hard to believe it's the same amp. Before the bass was almost non-existent
and now it just groans. It sustains the midrange and hi notes with nice feedback
potential. Hell, I don't have a clue yet what I'm going to do with it. Thanks
for all your hard work. From my point of view it was well worth it." Steve
What's left to do:
completely clean chassis
remove and clean front and back faceplates
perform a complete cap job
install new on/off switch
re-wire power transformer and add 100 ohm heater
resistors
install new power cord
clean and tighten tube sockets
install new tubes, dc/ac test and burn in
final test
ship amp back to Steve
